SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Animal cruelty charges are being sought after 61 dogs were removed from the residence in Calhoun County’s Sheridan Township Thursday.
Around 9:30 a.m., the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence in the 24000 block of H Drive North. Their investigation began Wednesday after authorities received a Silent Observer tip regarding the number of dogs residing at the property.
The Sheriff’s Office says during the initial investigation, deputies observed concerning living conditions. Based on those observations, a search warrant was obtained and executed. The dogs were removed and transported to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
The animal cruelty charges are pending review by the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Battle Creek Police Animal Control and the Calhoun County Animal Shelter.
