Born September 23, 1938, in North Holland, MI, he was the son of John and Grace (Weener) Baumann. He lived in Olive Center, and graduated from Holland Christian High School.
A man known for steady diligence, Leverne brought a hard-working spirit to the responsibilities of everyday life. His faithful presence and kind-hearted way of relating to others were felt most deeply by those who knew him well, expressed in the quiet consistency of a life lived with care for family, neighbors, and community. Leverne worked as a mechanic and owned and operated North Holland Garage, serving others through practical skill, reliability, and the pride of work done well. He was a longtime member of South Olive CRC, where he served as an elder and Deacon, before joining Victory Point, and eventually retiring in the Zeeland area.
Leverne is survived by his wife, Yvonne Baumann of 67 years; his sons, Mark (Beverly) Baumann, Kelvin (Barbara) Baumann, Jeffrey (Kimberly) Baumann, and Daniel (Lori) Baumann; eleven grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Bernard (Burdetta) Baumann, John (DeeAnn) Baumann, Nancy (Ronald) DeBoer, and Mary (David) Esther; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vern VandenBrink and Coral Swierenga; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Grace Baumann; his in-laws, Peter & Kate Dalman; and his brothers and sisters in-law, Howard & Helen Dalman, Preston & Cylinda Dalman, Glenn & Clara Dalman, Cynthia & Ray Rouwhorst, Alaine & Dewey Knoll, Zella VandenBrink, and Lester Swierenga.
