SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 27, 2026) – A Lakeshore community hopes to put an unpleasant situation behind it on Monday evening.
During the biweekly Saugatuck City Council meeting, members will be asked to approve a resolution officially censuring Planning Commissioner Christopher “CJ” Bagierek, while accepting his resignation as vice chairman of that panel. This stems from an allegation that he operated an accessory dwelling unit improperly, and subsequently failed to disclose this when voting on a related matter in violation of the city’s ethics policy. The resolution comes after Bagierek had agreed to step down from his position and accept censure.
In addition, Council will accept into the record the resignation of Planning Commissioner Bobbie Gaunt over how this situation was handled by her colleagues, as well as by the overall governing panel, when it came to light in March. In an unrelated matter, Council is expected to schedule a public hearing and a final vote on the proposed Fiscal 2027 budget for June 8th.
The Saugatuck City Council’s 6:30 PM business session is in the second floor meeting room of Saugatuck City Hall (102 Butler St.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
