LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Apr. 29, 2026) – The entity that has acquired Ottawa County’s two indoor ice rinks is under investigation by the state Attorney General’s office.
WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids is reporting that the corporate oversight division under AG Dana Nessel is looking into possible antitrust violations by Black Bear Sports Group over its purchase of Griff’s IceHouse West in Holland Township, Griff’s Georgetown Ice Arena between Hudsonville and Allendale, and other facilities, including Wings West near Kalamazoo. The Maryland-based entity, which acquired the Holland and Georgetown buildings in February, owns and operates nine rinks in Michigan and nearly 50 nationwide.
A Black Bear spokesman told the television station that the company wasn’t aware of any investigation, or of any basis for such a probe.
