Craig Spoelhof, age 57 of Holland, MI, was called home to heaven on May 7, 2026, following a steadfast battle with brain cancer. He will be profoundly missed, yet his memory will be forever treasured. Born in Grand Rapids to John and Judy Spoelhof, Craig was the third of four brothers. His family later settled in Holland, where he attended Holland Christian Schools. There he met his beloved wife, Wendy.
A gifted student and natural leader, Craig stood out as a National Merit Semifinalist, student body president, and dedicated cross-country runner. He competed in tennis, excelling at both the high school and collegiate levels. After graduating from Calvin College with a degree in engineering, he earned an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Craig built an accomplished 20-year career in the automotive industry at Double J Molding, Prince Corporation, and Johnson Controls. Known for his quiet strength and thoughtful leadership, Craig left a lasting impression on every role he undertook.
He faced life with humility and kindness. For 13 years, Craig served as the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club. Under his stewardship, the organization flourished, deepening its roots within the community. Craig was passionate about encouraging young people to discover and reach their full potential.
Above all else, Craig treasured time with family. Whether enjoying a boat ride to Marro’s for pizza, playing golf with his three sons, or making memories on vacation, he found his greatest joy surrounded by loved ones. Craig could often be found reading the local newspaper or immersed in a Harlan Coben novel. An avid sports fan, Craig was a fixture at his sons’ sporting events and loved attending Grand Slam tennis tournaments. He never missed an opportunity to cheer for the Wolverines. Craig was also an accomplished runner, completing numerous River Bank Races, Tulip Time Runs, Chicago Marathons, and the Boston Marathon.
Craig loved the Holland Community. For 25 years, he served in various volunteer leadership roles, including board president of Holland Christian Schools. As a committed follower of Christ, faith was the cornerstone of Craig’s life. His quiet faith spoke loudly.
Craig is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wendy, and their three sons, Joseph, Matthew, and Thomas. He is also lovingly remembered by his parents, John and Judy Spoelhof; his parents-in-law, William King Jr. (Barbara), his brothers, Scott (Jan), Steve (Valerie), and Chris (Misty); his brother-in-law, William King, III (Elizabeth); along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family. His legacy of faith, humility, and selfless service will endure in the countless lives he touched.
In place of flowers, the family invites you to honor Craig’s legacy through a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland or Holland Christian Schools.
