Katherine Marie Jongekryg, 80, of Holland, Michigan, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born on August 13, 1945, Katherine was the daughter of John and Gertrude Wieringa. Throughout her life, she carried a steady devotion to her faith, loving the Lord with all her heart and faithfully teaching her family to love Him as well.
Katherine’s life was richly centered on home and family. She was the mother of four children: Kendall Kiekover, Amy (Kiekover) Camfferman, Tracy (Kiekover) Streiff, and Travis Kiekover. On September 19, 1984, she married Milton Jongekryg, and through that marriage her family grew to include four more children: Kevin Jongekryg, Renee (Jongekryg) McCranie, Jim Jongekryg, and Tanya (Jongekryg) Soto. Her legacy continues through her 35 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, each of whom was deeply loved and held close in her heart.
Those who knew Katherine will remember the quiet, steadfast ways she expressed care—through the beauty she cultivated and the work of her hands. She loved flowers and found joy in working in her gardens. She also enjoyed sewing and making quilts, creating blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren—gifts made with patience, skill, and tenderness. In the kitchen, she was known for her love of cooking and for being a true expert at canning anything you could think of, preserving not only food but also the warmth of shared meals and family traditions.
Katherine also cherished the meaningful rhythms of family life, including her annual Christmas tea party shared with all of her daughters and granddaughters—an occasion that reflected her love of togetherness and the lasting bonds she nurtured year after year.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gertrude Wieringa, and her sister, Betty (Wieringa) Martine.
Visitation will be held at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, Holland, MI 49424, on June 1, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Followed by a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00 pm.
