Harvard “Harv” Paul Huyser, age 85, of Zeeland, passed away on June 11, 2026.
Born on September 17, 1940, in Zeeland, Michigan, Harv led a life full of passion, humor, and devotion to his family. A dedicated letter carrier with the United States Postal Service, Harv took great pride in his work, enjoying the walks and conversations with the community. Always curious, he was a man of many interests and talents. He had a passion for fast cars, especially restoring and repairing Corvairs, and he found great satisfaction in refinishing furniture and bring new life to cherished pieces. He was also a devoted basketball fan who enjoyed following Zeeland East and Hope College basketball for many years, sharing in the excitement of countless games.
He was fondly remembered for his phrase, “I need to see a guy” whenever he was on the hunt for something special, often taking his daughters with him on these little adventures. His sense of adventure extended far beyond home, as he enjoyed traveling with his family and visiting many parts of the United States, creating lasting memories along the way.
Harv managed to lead an extraordinary life, overcoming the challenges of diabetes, which ultimately cut short his military service. His tenacity and spirit painted a picture of resilience that family and friends admired throughout his life. He served at Faith Reformed Church as a deacon, elder, and Sunday school teacher. He also cherished the many mission trips to Kentucky working alongside others to repair homes for elderly and disadvantaged people.
He is survived by his loving wife of, 64 years, Louisa Huyser; his daughters: Karri & Werner Absenger, Pamela Huyser, and Sarah Huyser; grandchildren: Joshua Herzog, Jenna Salvagin Herzog, and Emily Milas; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Carol Harris, Eleanor & Arthur Boer, Nancy & Richard Bosman, Kathleen & James VanSickle; in-laws: Clint & Beth Keeney, Denny & Patricia Keeney, Judy & Dave Bair; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.
