OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 25, 2026) – The Lakeshore’s animal rescue center is getting more than a makeover.
On Tuesday, a ceremonial ground breaking was held at the West Olive grounds of Harbor Humane Society (14345 Bagley St.) for a new five thousand square-foot adoption building. When completed in about a year’s time, the facility will have private spaces for adoptions, improved pet accommodations, increased room for administrative operations, and more. The current building will be remodeled for improved animal intake and maintenance.
Jen Neurnberg, Harbor Humane’s Director of Marketing, says that about half of the $3.6 million-dollar price tag for the overall project has been raised thus far.
Besides receiving ongoing proceeds from its resale store in Holland (716 Chicago Dr.), Harbor Humane Society’s next major fundraiser is the Ales for Tails event at the Holland Township Community Center (12343 James St.) on July 23rd.
