GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 7, 2026) – A 20-year-old Dexter woman was hospitalized after her compact car collided with a semi between Hudsonville and Allendale on Monday morning.
No names were disclosed by Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Tamminga, as he and other first responders were dispatched to 48th Avenue just north of Bauer Road around 7:35 AM. That was where the woman’s northbound vehicle crossed the center line of the two-lane road and crashed with the southbound truck, driven by a 27-year-old Dorr man, with an 18-year-old Jenison man as a passenger in the cab.
Following the collision, the semi, which was hauling a load of landscape mulch, veered to the left, went off of the roadway, and landed in a drainage ditch, causing the truck to tip over to the left. Diesel fuel from the gas tanks then spilled into the ditch.
The woman was taken to a “local hospital” for treatment of serious injuries, while the two men in the semi were unhurt. The Sheriff’s Office HazMat Team, along with Georgetown Township Fire Department crews, worked to clean up the fuel spill.
The incident remains under investigation.
