Darwin Koops, age 80, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
Dar was married to his wife, Judy, for 60 years. He was a proud businessman having owned Koops Well Drilling in Holland, MI for 30 years. He was a faithful young peoples leader/volunteer and enjoyed those relationships his entire life. His happy place was driving his Farmall tractor on his hobby farm. He invested his volunteer time in Turning Point Missions in Haiti drilling and repairing wells. He had a hard work ethic, a quick wit, but most of all – He loved his family and was proud of each of them. He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Alvin and Jeanette Koops; sister, Lonnie Nykerk; brothers-in-law; Vern VanOss, Cal Hoffman; and parents-in-law, John and Theresa VanOss.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Koops; children, Lance and Theresa Koops, Renee and Eric Fogg, Tonya and Andrew Peceny; grandchildren, Monika Koops, Emerson Koops, Adrianne and Jarret Ochsendorf, Kevin and Natalie Fogg, Joshua Fogg, Jacob Fogg, Kassidy Borgman, Porter Borgman; sister, Linda Koops, brother, Wes and Glenda Koops; sister, Jean (Bill Buikema) Hoffman; in-laws, Jeff Nykerk, Jan VanOss, Nancy and Ken Kortering, Carol Hightower, Steve and Anna VanOss; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation with the family is from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Park Christian Reformed Church, 1496 West 32nd St. Holland, MI 49423.
A Celebration of Life is at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, also at Park Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Daniel Steen and Rev. Jen Rozema officiating. Friends are encouraged to drive their classic cars to the Celebration of Life in honor of Dar.
Burial to take place in East Saugatuck Cemetery.
