HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jul. 12, 2026) – The 17th Annual Van Raalte Farm Civil War Muster will return to the historic Van Raalte Farm in Holland on September 19-20, offering visitors an expanded living-history experience in celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary.
For the first time, the event will feature both Revolutionary War and Civil War programs, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to experience two pivotal periods in American history.
A highlight of the expanded event will be the Freedom Truck Mobile Museum, an interactive journey through 250 years of American history. Inside the mobile museum, visitors will discover the stories of the men and women who transformed a vast wilderness into the nation we know today.
Historical interpreters portraying some of America’s most influential founding figures will be on site, including George and Martha Washington, John and Abigail Adams, and Thomas and Martha Jefferson. Guests can visit authentic British and Colonial encampments, witness Revolutionary War battle skirmishes, and enjoy period music performed by traditional fife and drum corps. Representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will also participate in the weekend’s activities.
The Civil War portion of the event will commemorate the 165th Anniversary of the First Battle of Bull Run, the first major battle of the American Civil War. Living-history programs will feature historical interpreters portraying President Abraham Lincoln, General and President Ulysses S. Grant, General Robert E. Lee, and Harriet Tubman.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Union, Confederate, and civilian encampments while experiencing cavalry, artillery, and infantry demonstrations throughout the weekend. Additional attractions include historical artifact exhibits, battle reenactments, and period music echoing through the wooded grounds of Van Raalte Farm.
Attendees are also encouraged to tour the historic Van Raalte Farmhouse and barns located on the property’s pristine 160-acre site. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the event at an authentic military tavern.
Admission is free to the public. Free parking will be available adjacent to Van Raalte Farm, with complimentary shuttle service transporting visitors directly to the event grounds.
