ZEELAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Aug. 11, 2026) – The Zeeland Township Board won’t be going far in naming its new operational leader.
During Monday night’s special meeting, the governing panel, on a 6-1 vote, agreed to offer former Park Township Manager Howard Fink the interim managerial post, with a special meeting set for Thursday to approve a contract agreement. Trustee Dave Barry’s sentiments perhaps echoed those of his colleagues.
Fink emerged from four finalists who had sought the job, as Josh Eggleston is leaving later this month to become Holland Township’s manager.
Before that vote, the board went into a closed session to go over its ongoing litigation against Silver Maple PV LLC, in challenging the constitutionality of state Public Act 233, which preempts local control over the regulation of wind, solar, and energy storage facilities.
It was also the first meeting of this panel since last Tuesday’s Primary Election, in which incumbent Supervisor Kerri Bosma was defeated by challenger Dan Kerkstra for the GOP nomination. Kerkstra would be running unopposed on the November 3rd General Election ballot.
The Zeeland Township Board’s meeting was at the Township Hall (6582 Byron Rd.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
