HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 8, 2026) – What was on the consent agenda may have been more interesting than what was being handled individually during Wednesday night’s Holland City Council meeting.
Among the items being batched together for a single vote during the 6 PM session was a three-year-long sponsorship contract of $9,500 with Meijer for on-ice ribbon logo placement at the Holland Ice Park, along with the sponsoring the February Love on Ice event, as well as a $10,000 deal with Tulyp Hotel for pavilion signage. Council already has similar sponsorship deals in place for the ice pond, curling sheet, and Zamboni.
Also on the consent agenda was an agreement with the Allegan County Community Foundation to include the city of Holland in its Dolly Parton Imagination Library program, and for Downtown Holland to take over operations of the annual Holland Kerstmarkt held over the holidays at the 8th Street Marketplace.
Items on the consent agenda could have been moved to normal discussion by either the public in attendance, or by a council member. However, none of the items were so moved, so the governing panel unanimously approved the slate.
The Holland City Council met in Chambers at Holland City Hall (270 S. River Ave.). An online link to the agenda and supporting documents is here.
