HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Oct. 12, 2026) – The effort to replace existing lead-lined water lines by the Holland Board of Public Works may be getting a boost.
During Monday afternoon’s meeting, the municipal utility’s Board is expected to approve retaining Abonmarche Consultants for engineering services to help take out nearly 1,400 private-side galvanized service lines previously connected to lead. The over $263,000 contract is within a proposed $300,000 Water Distribution capital budget amendment to the current Fiscal 2027 spending plan, and the money comes from a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund grant the BPW received this past July.
Utility General Manager Dave Koster said, in a memo attached to the agenda/supporting documents for this 4 PM meeting, “Once funding is secured, the total project cost will be included for approval in the FY 2028 Water Distribution capital budget.”
The Holland BPW Board of Directors meeting is at the utility’s main offices (625 Hastings Ave.). Click on the highlighted link for the agenda/supporting documents.
