HOUGHTON, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Residential natural gas customers of Consumers Energy will see their bills rise by 4.33% starting November 1st.
The Michigan Public Service Commission approved the rate hike Thursday at Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
Attorney General Dana Nessel advocated for a rate hike of no more than 3.5% and said Consumers was inflating their spending projections.
She called for changes to the state’s utility regulatory system, noting she has been fighting rate increases for the last eight years.
