HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 15, 2023) – With just over seven weeks before the 94th renewal of Holland’s annual signature event, the Tulip Time Festival will be a little bigger this year.
When visitors come to the Tulip City for the nine-day festivities that begin on May 6th, they will see up to 65,000 flowers at the Tulip Immersion Garden, to be located outside of Beechwood Church (895 Ottawa Beach Road) on Holland’s North Side. There will also be exhibits of Delft artwork, along with a souvenir and food shop. Inside of the church, the festival’s Quilt Show will feature not only creations from contributors, but attendees can have a chance to win a custom quilt made by Sally Leep and Cheryl Zylman through a raffle, with the quilt to be revealed and displayed at the Apothecary Gift Shop (35 W. 8th Street) downtown on April 25th.
Also announced on Tuesday by festival officials is the Dutch Costume Sale in the Heeringa Holland Civic Center Place on Wednesday, April 12th, beginning at 5 PM; the Potted Tulip Sale through the festival website, with pickup at the City of Holland’s Parks Department offices (429 E. 24th Street) on April 20th and 22nd; and the public is welcome to don traditional Dutch costumes and participate in the ceremonial street scrubbing along 8th Street downtown ahead of the Kinderparade on May 11th, as long as they bring their own buckets and brooms.
