SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – One of the first lives saved by South Haven’s new lifeguards was the life of the mayor of South Haven’s husband.
Mayor Annie Brown says husband Jeff Fibrandt was talking to the lifeguards on the morning of June 9th and had just said “it looks like you are going to have a slow morning” right before he collapsed in front of them.
They used an automated external defibrillator and did CPR to revive him before he was rushed to the hospital.
Brown thanked the staff for saving her husband at last night’s city council meeting, saying doctors and nurses told her “Jeff was lucky to be alive” and told her she should buy some lottery tickets.
One doctor says the trained lifeguards were key to saving Fibrandt’s life.
