DORR, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Nov. 3, 2026) – Two long-standing bridge repair projects along US-131 in northeast Allegan County get underway on Monday.
Michigan Department of Transportation contractors begin work on beam replacement and deck repair on both the 144th Avenue and the 146th Avenue spans over the freeway, as well as installing a new barrier wall below. Both bridges were damaged by separate high-load truck slams late last year, and it took a while to garner the necessary materials for the project.
Such delays are a way of life in the transportation industry today, according to Alex Doty with the Ottawa County Road Commission.
The $1.4 million project will necessitate lane closures and traffic shifts, with some short-term full closures and detours, through the Thanksgiving holiday at the latest.
