Rosemary Dorn, age 82, of Holland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026. She will be deeply missed by her children, Christopher Dorn, Matthew & Ania (Waz) Dorn, and Anne (Dorn) & Dante DiVitto, and her 4 grandchildren, Josephine and Nicholas DiVitto, and Gabriel and Antonina Dorn. She will also be missed by brother Bill (Peggy) DeJonge, brothers-in-law David Dorn and Bob Balfoort, and sister-in-law Barbara Dalman, along with many nieces and nephews who also loved her very much. She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles and Albert DeJonge, and her beloved husband of 49 years, Steven Dorn, who passed away in 2015.
Rosemary was born in Holland in 1943 to Charles and Hilda DeJonge and graduated from Union High School in Grand Rapids in 1961. After a few years of professional life, she married Steve in 1966 and devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother to her three children. She spent many hours volunteering as a room parent, driving to little league and dance classes, sewing doll clothing, then marching band color guard costumes and flags, and in retirement spent 10 years as an active volunteer with Hospice of Holland. More recently, she also took on volunteer roles at her final place of residence, Covenant Living of Grand Rapids.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, at 11 am at Dykstra Funeral Home, Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation starts at 10 am. Dr. Christopher Dorn will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Covenant Living Benevolent Fund.
