OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Jun. 26, 2026) – More names have been disclosed after two separate wrong-way, head-on crashes a week ago killed five persons.
On Thursday, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office revealed who died when a westbound SUV in the eastbound lanes of I-96 just west of the 16th Avenue exit near Marne slammed into an eastbound SUV. The at-fault driver was 24-year-old Darron Trevino of Clyde, while the Muskegon couple who perished were 53-year-old Tammy Morris-Robinson and 50-year-old Robert Robinson. Deputies believe that alcohol appeared to be a factor in the collision.
Meanwhile, a life celebration service at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville is slated on Friday for Jessica Schmock, a 39-year-old Jenison woman who died when the sedan she was driving was struck by an eastbound vehicle on I-196 near Lane Avenue in Grand Rapids. The identity of the 36-year-old Grand Rapids man driving the at-fault vehicle has yet to be revealed, with toxicology test results apparently still pending.
Both incidents remain under investigation.
