LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Amish community in Michigan wants the state to issue a photo-less identification as Republican lawmakers in Lansing want to require photo identification to be able to vote.
Photographs of Amish people are considered to be sinful and they don’t allow their pictures to be taken.
Amish carpenter Jacob Petersheim in Van Buren County says people would support the photo-less ID option, noting bank accounts are difficult to open without a photo ID.
Republican state Representative Tom Kunse says he will introduce a bill to allow for IDs without photos for the Amish.
