DEARBORN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Sept. 1, 2026) – At this point, it looks as if fuel prices will hover around the four-dollar-a-gallon mark for the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
According to Triple A’s daily canvassing of stations, the statewide average, as of dawn on Tuesday morning, stood at $4.12, which is two pennies below the national mean, and three cents less than Monday. It’s also down 11 cents from a week ago, and a quarter under that of last month, but is 82 cents more than at this time in 2025.
Adrienne Woodland with the Auto Club Group in Dearborn believes that fuel costs won’t improve before motorists hit the road this weekend.
Along the Lakeshore, Ottawa County’s average, as of Tuesday morning, of $3.99, is a penny less than neighboring Muskegon County, eight cents under that of Kent County, and 17 cents below that of Allegan County.
